Medical - Medical: Pharmaceuticals / Clinical trial
English term or phrase: Target engagement
I hope someone can help me with this please. I'm doing a back translation of a clinical trial related text which has been translated from English into German (and now back into English by me). The title of the trial says "to Evaluate Safety, Tolerability, Pharmacokinetics and ***Target Engagement *** of Single Intravenous and Subcutaneous Doses".
This has been translated into German as
"zur Beurteilung der Sicherheit, der Verträglichkeit, der Pharmakokinetik und des Zielkontakts..."
I want to check "Zielkontakt" for Target Engagement, because it seems a bit iffy. "Target engagement (TE) in drug discovery is generally defined as the interaction of ligands with their target biomolecules." if that helps. Maybe it is fine but I would be very grateful if someone could confirm whether or not it is okay, and it isn't then what it should be…

Target Engagement

Explanation:

Hi Charles, "Interaktion" (mit einem Zielmolekül) only applies where this is actually meant. That's why often the English term is kept as it has multiple meanings.

Getting the points is not my concern. If you award points to the wrong answer by choosing it this may mislead other users when looking for how to translate this term. But hopefully they will also read the discussion.

Asker: Thanks very much again Zea. I apologise for not giving you the points (wish I could split them). I did find quite a lot of evidence that TE is just left in EN in DE texts so I think you are right
