agree  Adrian MM.: Note that, in England & Wales as opposed to the USA, contingent fee-basis is lawful vs. conditional fee-basis that is not on the grounds of 'maintenance & champerty' albeit 'almost' abolished by a UK 1993 Act https://www.jstor.org/stable/4500089
