English term or phrase: core spreading area
På finska heter det "sydänkaappari" (härdkapare). Den tekniska funktionen är att en härdsmälta blandas med offermaterial så att den blir lättflytande och får rinna ur reaktorhärden på ett kontrollerat sätt, bredas ut över ett stort område, där det sedan kan vattenkylas. Engelsk och svensk term verkar saknas. Ingen av våra svenska reaktorer har denna funktion så vitt jag vet.
core spreading area
It has a containment building designed to withstand the impact of a commercial jet, and a set of features intended to cope with a molten core in case of meltdown, preventing a "China syndrome" of a core burning through the floor and into the earth beneath. The reactor has a "core-spreading area" where the molten material would spread out and be cooled by water running above and below the area.
