English term or phrase: hold in / hold for
Hi everyone, I'd be grateful if anyone could explain the meaning of "hold in" and "hold for" in the following sentences

"It is easy to agree with this observation, but can aesthetics and environmental ethics remain conjoined beyond starting points? They can, due to certain conditions that hold in or for nature."

It's not clear to me whether in this context "hold in" means that the conditions are to be found in nature itself or something else, since I didn't come up with a better explanation. Also the disjuntive "or" and "hold for" are to me difficult to comprehend.
