de una asociación civil : charitable /non-profit organisation, West. (Equity) share capital is the auto-pilot translation for a limited company or (US) corporation but, here, we have a different type of organisation.

So, scouring the previous 150-odd ProZ glossary translations and IATE, I look in vain for an endowment, but stand corrected by beady-eyed experts.

Moral of the story: work backwards or 'inductively' from the charity, rather than deductively from the ST / source text of capital social.

Explanation:
If say patrimonio is assets, capital social may be owner’s equity on a balance sheet which is defined in accounting as the amount remaining after the value of all liabilities is subtracted from the value of all assets.

  -> While it is true that it is a non-profit organization, the concept of owner’s equity is a standard entry on balance sheets and the concept should be understood by anyone knowledgeable about financial statements regardless.
