Tengo el manual de instrucciones de una máquina para cortar papel con chorros de agua a presión.

Al describir el funcionamiento del carrete en el que va enrollado el papel en bruto, dice:

"Threading operation:

1. If the retract proximity switches do not sense the edge trimmers in the park position, the threading system will not engage. (Interlock ***by mill***)
2. Threading operation ***by mill***.
3. Once the tail is threaded, and the reel spool turn-up has been completed the sheet is being widened to full width..."

No sé me ocurre qué tipo de pieza o sistema es el mill. No puede ser ningún tipo de cuchilla giratoria, porque la máquina para cortar usa solamente chorro de agua.

Mill solo vuelve a aparecer cuando se habla del sistema de aire:

"Mill air and Instrument air
- Close, lock, and tag the Mill Air lockout valve(s).
- Close, lock, and tag the Instrument air lockout valve..."

O sea, hay aire para los instrumentos y aire para el mill, no lo entiendo.
