Dear All,

I am translating Mash by Richard Hooker into Polish. I have such fragment:

“Hey, Henry!” yelled Hawkeye. “Can officers get broads into Leavenworth?”

The situation is that Hawkere and friends did something wrong and want Henry to forgive them.

Coudl you help?

Broads is women.
Leavenworth is probably a prison: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Penitentiary,_Leavenworth

KudoZ Question Jan 17, 2022

This might be an opportunity to reflect on the necessity of a new type of question.

There are questions - like this one - where people who are particularly familiar with the larger context (e.g. a novel or some other kind of work) might be in the best position to give a helpful answer.

I agree with Barbara that this rather belongs to KudoZ.

I apologize for not being particularly helpful.

Note: this posting might not be in line with the rules.

This is already possible. The English-English KudoZ section would have been a good place to post this one, for example.

Or use "monolingual" in the old interface Jan 20, 2022

Or, switch to the old KudoZ interface:
https://www.proz.com/ask?kver=old
where there is the option to select "(Monolingual)" in the target language. I don't know why that option was removed from the new interface.
