Course summary
Description Translation of environmental documents often involves dealing with many names of organizations and programs, and geographic names. Inconsistency in this area may result in confusion and misunderstanding. We will discuss the principles of choosing the right translation when there are more than one existing translations. We will also discuss the main ways of transferring these names from one language into another: transliteration, transcription and translation and some others. This course will combine both theory and practical application. Target audience This session can be interesting and useful to those who are making their first steps in environmental translation but also to those who specialize in environmental transaltion but understand the value of learning from others' experience.
