Bio

Bachelor degree at the University of Naples “L’Orientale” in Modern and European Languages and Literatures in the academic year 1987-88.

Publishing of my graduation thesis in one of the academic reviews for English Literature studies as graduation award in 1990. The essay title is "Timon of Athens o delle opposizioni" and it was published in Annali - Anglistica XXXI, 3 -1998 - Istituto Universitario Orientale - Napoli

.

Thanks to my university studies, I have acquired a great familiarity with English literature and theatre plays and related terminology, with a specific specialization in Shakespearean theatre.

I translated a few short stories and one act play.

My experience as professional translator started at Selfin S.p.A. (an IBM company) in 1990, in Naples, when IBM founded its Italian Translation Center in the South of Italy.

I was employed as internal translator.

I attended the complete IBM base education courses about IBM main software used for communication and translation.

After two years of experience, I became translation project manager:

responsible for translation projects from initial planning to delivery;

working with translators and editors to ensure quality implementation and adherence to deadlines;

assembling and verifying projects for final delivery;

responsible for setting and controlling project budgets.

Editing/Translating content;

working with various file formats and content types;

testing, monitoring and fixing linguistic bugs.

The software and the related documentation I dealt with, belong to the great and different families of DB2, AS/400, CICS, Lotus, HTML, Websphere, Rational, IBM System z, Cognos and much more.

As a freelancer, I also translated software such as Internet Explorer Service Pack 1, MS Exchange, PayPal, Vestas, apps for Nokia, e-mails, daily reports, cultural heritage and marketing documents, scientific essays.

For three years, As employee of Selfin S.p.A, I coordinated the preparation of EU tenders and financed research projects, being also responsible for the translation from English into Italian and viceversa of all the administrative , technical and scientific documentation.

Last year, I also worked as Media Relation Team Assistant at America’s CUP World Series in Naples, thanks to my sailing experience, participation to regattas and championships. Also in this field I am familiar with sailing specific terminology.

I translated lots of internal documents and press releases.
