Source text - English Open Source is one of the most dramatic changes to impact the software industry in recent memory. Few technical subject matters today are as passionately debated as that of the controversy surrounding open source and commercial software – two prominent models of software licensing and development. Amidst the many active discussions underway and views argued by various proponents relating to questions such as the cost and benefits of these models, there are, in fact, a number of commonalities and similarities that are often overlooked in this debate. Policy concerns surrounding commercial and open source software have also gripped Governments around the world. In the Asia Pacific region in particular, open source is often seen as a possible solution to some of the challenges presently faced in the region, especially in the developing nations. With a view to assisting decision makers to discern the facts in this debate, we will examine a number of key considerations in this area and assess how appropriate software policy decisions should be made.
Translation - Indonesian Open Source adalah salah satu perubahan paling dramatis yang mempengaruhi industri piranti lunak akhir-akhir ini.
