I think Pamela Fan's suggestion is a pretty good translation for "motivation" in this situation.

I would like to provide a more literary option --主动性-- that means activeness, initiative and willingness. I think that are what the word "motivation" means in this sentence.

The English phrase "self-motivated" is often translated into Chinese as “工作主动”.
