snow white pin

They are being poetic here by giving the color. It is a white hair pin.

I believe that they are referring to the color of the hair pin. Nevertheless, here is a reference for a hair pin in the shape of snow.

U-shaped hairpin

Basically, I use two types: a u-shaped hairpin with loose ends for hairstyles with a clump of hair to fix (i.e. chignon, buns, etc.) and the other kind of hairpin called a bobby pin to keep my hair from flying around (or to keep rollers in place, hats on, etc.) :o)

agree df49f (X) : "bobby pin" (used to buy many of these in another long-haired life first in France then US!)
