The second type of head-up display projects information on to a glass panel (combiner), which is housed in the dashboard in front of the windscreen, using a hidden projector. If drivers do not wish to use the combiner, it can usually be recessed into the dashboard. The disadvantage of this type of head-up display is that, although the glass panel is located in the driver’s field of vision, the driver has to refocus their vision slightly in order to read the information.
