I would like to know the best translation of this phrase from Latin American Spanish into American English. Translator colleagues from Spain, feel free to send me your suggestions as well. Is okay to translate it as "a warm corner of the kitchen" or perhaps a cozy corner of the kitchen?
This is from the story about The hen that laid the golden eggs of Aesop and Félix María de Samaniego
Here is the full paragraph:
Ellos llevaban la gallina todos los días hasta la hierba verde que crecía ¡unto al estanque del pueblo, y todas las noches la acostaban en una cama de paja, en un rincón caliente de la cocina. No pasaba mañana sin que apareciera un huevo de oro.

in a warm/cozy corner of the kitchen
I wouldn't translate "caliente" as "hot", and might use "cozy' in the sense of "warm and cozy".
Note from asker:
Thanks Barbara, I thought that my suggestion was also correct. Thanks again. |

: I was going to post the same Barbara but I prefer warm to cozy in a kitchen.

: I dislike "cozy" with a Z because it reminds me of "cozen", a negative epithet...

"Nook" could be an option rather than "corner"... although "snugly in a cosy nook" would be even better.
(Swaddle her snugly in a cosy nook...)

Thanks Neilmac. |
Neilmac, I have a questions is a snug hook of the kitchen more used in The United Kingdom? Please let me know. Thanks a lot. |

: I suppose that rincón can be figurative and snug nook sounds great. Just that cozy corner hooks me. If it was the alliteration—snug spot? :)

Snug as a bug in a rug. I have a broody hen right now and sometimes feel like strangling her...

: I like both answers but I too shudder at "cozy" with a z.
