Hi all,
This is a subtitled intro to a film by Berlanga.
I think I understand the context, but I'm having trouble rendering the last three segments into concise, simple English.
My understanding is that although it appears that the film harshly criticises all the clichés about Spain, it actually has a certain fondness for them.
Its criticism of certain quintessentially Spanish icons (symbols)/ends up being less harsh than that levelled at...
Then I sort of run out of steam and inspiration.
I'd be grateful for any suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

: Though subtitles usually have to be short. You could say "criticism of certain icons of Spanishness".

Comment: "Thanks for your contribution. "Marca España" was actually a government initiative to improve Spain's image at home and abroad. I think that "Spain as a brand" sums it up perfectly. "

the criticism of certain Spanish icons
Perhaps you should use the paraphrase strategy to make the segment shorter.
