هل هذا التعبير مفهوم لديك في العربية؟
أعتقد أنه من الأفضل القول
ابن/ابنة عم/ابن خال/خالة أبي/أمي

لأن الجيل يتألف من الجد والأب والشخص نفسه

أليس كذلك؟

When cousins are not on the same generational level, removal is used to refer to the gap.

A cousin once removed is a cousin that is one generation up or down from the subject. Twice removed is two generations up or down...

A cousin half removed is when one of the cousin's parents is a cousin (same level, not removed) and the other parent is a cousin once removed (up or down), so half is the average

Yes, the number of times removed simply means the difference in generations.

It is possible in certain countries and states to get fractional removals. For example, in Alabama, if your Uncle Willie has a child with your first cousin Sarah, then that child is your first cousin not removed going by your Uncle Willie, but it is your first cousin once removed going by your first cousin Sarah. The correct naming convention is to average the number of times removed. Hence, the child is your first cousin with one-half removed.

In French "removed" is translated as éloigné

The speaker could be genuinely explaining the tree or just saying "complicated genealogy, explaining is more trouble than it's worth"

This is my suggestion as I did not find any translation that is acceptable. In some places literal translations are given

first cousin once removed [General] ابن عم الأول إزالتها مرة واحدة

غير شقيق

It seems half removed is when the relative is a relation through only one of your great grandparents and not both so eg. Your great grandfather's line through a different spouse due to death or divorce and not your great grandmother's.

So in Arabic you can describe your brother as sharing both your parents by saying شقيق, eg. أخ شقيق, and you can describe a half-brother either by attributing that brother to your mother or to your father, أخي لأبي or أخ لأب, or أخي لأمي or أخ لأم. You can see this would require you have additional information about the "half-brother".

Another option is to negate the brother being شقيق. Eg. أخي غير الشقيق.

To convey "great-great-great-grandaunt, half removed" clearly in Arabic you would need to convert it to "the half-sister of my grandfather's grandfather"
أخت جد جدي غير الشقيقة

Then if you want to refer to a distant cousin you would say ابن/بنت أخت جد جدي غير الشقيقة

Other suggestions I've seen like بعيد بنصف جيل don't conform with Arabic usage and would parse as gibberish.

Of course, this all depends on my understanding of the term "half removed" and that's why I lowered the confidence level.

I hope this helps.
