Italian term

gambetti

Italian to English Other Textiles / Clothing / Fashion shoes
I understand they are referring to the strip of leather sewn over XXX re Oxford Shoes see below thanks

vamp / facing / open v. closed stitching

The difference between oxfords and derby shoes is the placement of the seam where the eyelets meet the vamp.

See http://www.differencebetween.info/difference-between-derby-a... for a complete explanation

I should clarify, the "gambetti" would be the "facing" or eyelets while the "mascherina" is the "vamp". Another way to express this same idea is to say that they have open / closed lacing systems. The facing is part of the quarter, specifically the part where the eyelets are.

Il glossario calzature 122010 is the same posted by Wolfgang.
Therefore, if we found 2 linfs for 1 glossary, it must be really a very good and well known glossary!

ankles

Usually brogues, thanks to the mask sewn over the ankles, are better suited to those with a thin foot with a low neck.
