Background
One of the hallmarks and driving forces of cancer is genetic instability.
Specifically in familial cancers, susceptibility to breast cancer development due to mutations in BRCA1 and BRCA2 tumor suppressor genes, or in key players in homologous recombination (HR), have been associated with an increased risk of developing breast or ovarian cancer.
