How would you translate "estates" here? Does it refer to "heirs"? I am asking this because the definitions of estate that I've found so far talk about property, but the way this text has been written, it appears that it refers to people, not things. Ideas?

Porque en este caso, no se trataría de bienes sucesorios, que sería lo habitual, sino de quienes ostenten la titularidad de los bienes sucesorios.
