Italian term

cc. 203-5

Italian to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature the 1500\\\'s - Pietro Aretino

What does cc. mean? Is there an abbreviationfor it?

Thanks...

simon tanner Mar 12, 2017:
You don't think it might simply be a library code? In our faculty library two letters are used before numbers, so a book collocation might be "ca 01". The next group of books would begin with "cb 01", the next "cc 01" and so on. Seeing the context, it lloks like it may well be part of a library code...

I will put this on my list of questions to ask the author of the paper (a university professor!)
Thank you all for your research and suggestions.
Barbara Carrara Mar 12, 2017:
Helen Could this refer to canti or cantos?
The only other file I found online lists 'cc.' as the abbreviation for 'carte', but am not entirely sure this would apply here

I don't know what cc stands for, but here it says "folio":

This regards poems written by Pietro Aretino in the 16th century. The abbreviation must necessarily concern poetry - especially of that period.

carte

I think "c." is for carta (singular) and "cc." is for carte (plural).

It's the same mechanism as "p." and "pp." in English.

cartellini cartacei

paper tag/card tag

Please note the low confident level :)
