Spanish term

Los territorios soñados

Spanish to English Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting Installation artwork
Good afternoon everyone.

I have to find a good translation for the title of an installation artwork.

"Los territorios soñados".

It represents a metaphor of our environment.

Territories dreamt of? Do you think this would be a good solution? Maybe too literal? Cherished territories?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,
Ana

@maryblack I think you should post "dreamscapes, it's the best one so far.
maryblack May 24, 2016:
dreamscapes I'm thinking that's even better...

@A.L. Does it refer to a perfect -natural?- environment we can only dream of?

undreamed territories

The installation has already been christened this in English, and I think it works.

I don't think it is the opposite to the Spanish if you read it as "territories you would never even have dreamed of"
Peer comment(s):

neutral philgoddard : You haven't said who translated it this way, but it seems a bit odd to say the exact opposite of the Spanish.//Point taken, but they all appear to be from a single press release reproduced by lots of different sites - hence the use of lowercase letters.

If you Google the two words together there are some 800 references in English to the exhibition.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Hello everyone. Patinba was right. It had already been translated as "undreamed territories" and it is the title the exhibition hall the show is being displayed at is using. I'd rather go for "Dreamscapes" or "Dreamlands", but this is how they decided to name the show. Thank you so much for your help and time. Regards."

The territories of dreams / of your dreams

Since they've chosen to use the plural, I've stuck with it.

dreamlands

less literal, more literary?

agree James A. Walsh : I think your suggestion above of "dreamscapes" is even better - has a better ring to it.

Glimpse of a Promised Land

Or:
Glimpse of Promised Lands

"Dreamlands" and "dreamscapes" strike me as having an ethereal and fairy-tale connotation that seems out of joint in the context of what appears to be an exploration of very real problems - and their possible solutions.

Wishful Landscapes

Here I feel the idea is how these landscapes should be in an ideal world. Wishful has this idea of something wished for and unlikely although not impossible or dreamlike.
