Messager d'ambassade
The father's profession is "messager d'ambassade".
I can't find any obvious solutions on the internet, so wonder is "ambassador" is suitable?
Or maybe "embassy envoy".
Any help appreciated, either to consolidate or suggest an alternative.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Many years ago, I worked in the embassy of a very new country in Paris. They employed a messenger, who took documents, packets and various other items from one place to another in Paris.

: I beleive the term used is normally courier rather than messenger

I am sure courier must be used and could therefore be an alternative answer; I do not know which is the more frequent usage. Thanks for your comment, michaelrst :-)
