Spanish term
Secretaria
Spanish to English
Other
Education / Pedagogy
I'm translating an academic certification document from Cuban Spanish into American English, and this title is giving me problems. It's used in several places in the document, each with a different title. The terms I can't figure out are "Secretaria Técnica Docente," "Secretaria Universitaria," and "Secretaria Postgrados".
Here is the context for each:
"[Person], Secretaria Técnica Docente de la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad Central..."
"Registrado su Título de Especialista, al Folio: A Número 1 del Libro de la Secretaria Universitaria, y Registrado al Folio..."
and
"[Person´s typed name]
[Person´s signature]
Secretaria Postgrados
The term "secretary" seems like a false cognate to me. How are these three terms generally translated?

Secretariat/Secretary´s Office
The terms "Secretariat" and "Secretary´s Office"are widely used in academic documents, with preference to one or the other depending on the institution.
I´d go for any of them, maybe you can check on the websites´ of similar institutions in the same State to decide which one you will use. Hope this helps.

Sorry, I thought you were refferring to "Secretaría", for the person you can use "Secretary", without a doubt.

Comment: "I ended up going with "Technical Education Secretary," "University Secretariat," and "Postgraduate Secretary." Thanks!"

Teaching Secretariat - School of Engineering and Architecture

The teaching secretariat is responsible for: giving students information and guidance, and liaising among teaching bodies, teachers and student administration

Technical Office
easiest way to translate it. There are secretaries there, there are officers there so ...
36 mins
Secretary of Education, University Administration, Secretary of Post Graduate Studies
The first term Secretaria Técnica Docente I think is the most troublesome, I would be interested to other peoples input as well

Secretary/Registrar's Office
First term is "Secretary" without a doubt. Second would most likely be "Registrar's Office."
