No gravels were recorded during seabed sampling operations, whilst fines ranged from 42.1% to 61.3% (mean 50.8±6.9SD; Figure 8) and the remainder sands.
While no gravels were observed, the sediment sampling process itself can sometimes be biased against coarser material, where only a relatively small sample (ca. 250g) is recovered for analysis or where the efficiency of the sampler itself may be compromised by coarser sediments.
This is, however, not thought to be the case for the current sediments were consistent sands and silts were recorded throughout the survey.
