German term

Wasserkopf

German to English Tech/Engineering Medical: Pharmaceuticals medication manufacture
The context here is the quality control associated with the filling of vials, ampoules etc. with medicines on a production line.

One of the fault conditions that causes these vials/ampoules to be rejected is "Wasserkopf", with no textual hint of what this means in this context.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Discussion

freekfluweel Jan 13, 2013:
literal translation ??? seems to me it's a term this specific maunfacturer uses as it is between brackets... could well be that another manufacturer calls it "balloonheads".
mcbaruch (asker) Jan 13, 2013:
Here is a list of rejection conditions. The last one features the term in question. Elsewhere it is also used in the singular.

1. Minderfüllungen (weniger als das deklarierte Volumen)
2. ungelöste Verunreinigungen wie Fasern, Partikel oder Glassplitter
3. äußerliche Verschmutzungen, die nicht abzuwischen sind
4. Glasspitzen oder zu dünne Kuppe ("Wasserköpfe")

thin tip dome

I think I'd just translate dünne Kuppe and leave out the Wasserkopf.

I think it IS an answer to the question, which is how to deal with Wasserkopf.

Take it as "Water hight" Danke vielmals.
Peer comment(s):

disagree Cetacea : The target language is English. Besides, what's "water hight" supposed to mean, especially in the context of glass containers?

disagree freekfluweel : Two and a half times wrong: wrong target language, wrong translation, bad spelling. Only one disagree though!
