Discussion

Martin Riordan Jun 14, 2012:
No harm done... Good dictionaries show the different ways in which words are used. This citizen, or man or "nordestino" or person or human, is from the "nordeste". However, the asker has better options to choose from.
Adnez Jun 14, 2012:
I am sorry, Martin. I honestly did not intend to cause any harm. However, definitions in the dictionary are about contextualisation and connotation. Have a nice day. : )

citizen of the North East (region), from Piauí

I assume you want this translated into English.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Marlene Curtis : I believe you are a citizen of a country, not a state. / Not used though, neither here in the USA or in England. Inhabitant, resident, etc. yes...

citizen: 4. A native, inhabitant, or denizen of a particular place (The Free Dictionary)

Thanks, Bia!
disagree Adnez : I agree with M Curtis

That means you disagree with the dictionary! Words can have more than one meaning...
agree Daniel Tavares : I disagree with M. Curtis. I can't see any harm in Martin's suggestion.

(another) "nordestino" from the Brazilian state of Piauí

Peer comment(s):

nordestino means a person from the Northeast Region. Piauí is part of this region in Brazil.
Peer comment(s):

disagree Daniel Tavares : E o termo "nordestino"?

northeasterner from Piaui

Poetry and pictures from yet another ~.
Peer comment(s):

Talvez neste contexto seria melhor traduzir "Poems & Photos of another Piauiense" or "Poems & Photos of one Piauiense"

northwest native from piauí

For what it´s worth, fica aqui minha contribuição:

´Poetry and ikon by yet another northwest Brazil native from Piauí´
