Sorry, I probably wasn't very clear. When I say 'person' I mean the Master of the fishing vessel.

The person had illegal fishing gear on board. I think Elizabeth's suggestion is correct.

Before translating contravventore, I'd like to know what he did and what this case is about. If he's in breach, that implies a contract. If he's a transgressor, that implies some other non-contractual offense, maybe tort liability.
