Glossary entry (derived from question below)
French term or phrase:
d’autant que
English translation:
particularly since
French term
d’autant que
I am confused because it says the test (which is a Doppler ultrasound) continues in the abdomen but then it mentions the lower limbs, so unless I am translating d'autant que really badly it does not make much sense to me!
Original:
L’examen a été poursuivi au niveau abdominal, d’autant qu’il existe des artères de gros calibre au niveau des membres inférieurs.
Translation:
The study continued in the abdomen particularlysince there are arteries of large diameter in the lower limbs.
Thank you.

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.
How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:
An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)
A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

The rationale is that abdominal arteries have substantial diameter and flow, and therefore ought to be examined. It does not mean that femoral arteries ought not be examined. (But ordinarily they are not.)

Discussion
At popliteal level there is still a non occlusive thrombus, 5 mm thick associated with a deep venous reflux of low but prolonged intensity: 2 seconds, occupying around 50% of the venous lumen. The crural veins and the deep veins of the left lower limb show normal patency and are compressible with no sign of thrombosis.
...and then it moves onto the sentence I asked about. I am not sure how this will change the way I can translate it!
