What I actually want here is to understand the message of this sentence properly. In this scenario, retail prices are going down and the value of the Distributor's warehouse stocks are being adjusted, but the explanation seems to me to be that it will go down by the difference between the value before and the value after, which would be a tad tautologous. Glimmers of light in the gloaming gladly received.

I agree with Thomas's interpretation, but what we are talking about is the value of the inventory.

Not sure The source text that I've been provided with isn't the complete contract, rather an 800-word extract of some new parts (complete paragraphs, at any rate) for translation. This paragraph is somewhat isolated, so I have no reason currently to doubt Thomas's suggestion. So they're going as far as to say that if the retail price comes down by £1 then the supply price is coming down by £1 too (so the distributor's margin remains the same)?

We have two prices here presso di fornitura (presumably charged by the company to the distributor) and the price to the public. So the inventory must be adjusted for the different supply price and this will be done on the basis of the retail price and that is the message. It could have been adjusted on another basis, in fact on the difference in the new supply price if there is one. From an accounting viewpoint, if the sales price of the inventory falls then the value must be adjusted in the accounts of the distributor accordingly, the assets are worth less. However, how does this adjustment fit in with the agreement? Also I think the correct translation hinges on the answer to this.

It is indeed tautologous in its literal form.

However, I think that the phrase "la differenza tra il valore di carico e quello successivo alla riduzione di prezzo per singolo prodotto interessato" means that the later inventory value is lowered by the difference in the retail price, so what they really should have written was:

"la differenza tra il PREZZO AL PUBBLICO e quello successivo alla riduzione di prezzo per singolo prodotto interessato"

If you introduce that change the sentence makes sense.
