I need to know whether the term in the automotive sector is "longitudinal member" or there's another, specific term.

Context is no help:

Ciao.
Con longherone oltre a un generico elemento strutturale longitudinale (asse X del reticolo standard di carrozzeria) si intendono talvolta:

- il brancardo (--> SILL) - utilizzo più frequente, ma dal contesto non sembra questo il caso
- i puntoni (elementi dedicati all'assordimento dell'energia nei crash) - utilizzato più che altro in FIAT.

Dal contesto che dai, sembrerebbe la seconda linea di carico per gli urti, ovvero i puntoni superiori.
Sarebbe comunque utile avere più contesto.
