Depending on how important the burner is, it may need a unique identifying reference mark for traceability, rather than some generic trademark, say. The fact that it is engraved (or perhaps etched) implies that this is no mass-produced item. I have often translated "repère" in this way. On the other hand, since context is so sadly lacking, it could simply be an alignment mark.
