What?

Purchase intenders. You know them. You live to reach them. People who intend to buy products or services. People who appear to follow fairly detailed purchase funnels, with often (though not always) well-defined informational needs, each of whom has different needs at different stages of the purchasing process.

I mean people who buy products like automobiles, prescription drugs, consumer electronics and lawn mowers. Basically anything that requires research, comparison, evaluation and transaction planning. What we like to call "considered purchases."

People who, though in aggregate, may behave as if there is indeed a predictable purchase funnel, in fact often feel as though they are hacking their way through a thicket with no clear path to reach their targets.

Yes, these are the same people who, too often, are cookied, targeted, profiled, harassed, disappointed, frustrated and annoyed.
