General economic theory
This is a document on general economic theory and the changes in economic policy that have been brought about by the current financial crisis. The full sentence and those preceding (for context) are:
I have provisionally translated it as "controlling inflation at the same time as facilitating growth potential in the domestic market" but am really not sure if this is what is meant. Any suggestions welcome - thanks in advance!

[enabling] growth to approach its potential
"John Taylor plays an important role, as he conducted academic research on the appropriate level for (nominal) interest rates based on the difference between real GDP and potential GDP, often called the GDP gap. The true rate should, in theory, enable central banks to better realise their short term objectives whilst maintaining long term stable inflation"

Thanks - this is helpful. I've used this plus feedback from another colleague. |
