Swedish to English Tech/Engineering Nuclear Eng/Sci
Givarnas uppgift är att övervaka turbinaxelns rörelse i förhållande till HT- och LT-turbinhusen så att inte iskärning av skovlar erhålls.

Discussion

Thomas Johansson Dec 17, 2008:
?? en iskärning (<< skära (in) i ??) = a "cutting into" ??

"....so that the blades don't cut into it [turbinaxeln]"

Speculating.

binding

Binding will most likely occur before 'cutting into'.

Ie, binding must be prevented.

I'm only making a guess David. The design is not obvious but I imagine that before any cutting (ie, iskärning) or seizure occurs there must be some sort of binding between the parts that eventually lead to a breakdown.
Note from asker:
Thanks George. I'm not sure what you mean be "binding will most likely occur before cutting into". Should this phrase be "so that blades are prevented from binding?"
