Thanks for the added context.
Not surprised it's thrown you - as a native Spaniard I'm still only half confident, and as a non-native English speaker, I'm pretty sure there are better ways of translating the meaning.
The idea of 'appealing' or 'influential' I had before is reinforced by the final sentence, specifically "nuestra objetivada vida social" which, without being all too clear itself, seems to me to point towards some kind of utilitarianism, which seems to drive home the focus on the technological aspects of a product. This is something I would debate heatedly with the author, but in the end it's what I understand from the text.

No pretenden la transformación del individuo, simplemente buscan con sus objetos construir un pequeño halo de ficción en torno a nuestra objetivada vida social.
