people from different provinces

This is from the view point of the "conquistadores" who came to Taiwan from different provinces of China during the KMT-CPP Civil War in China after the Second World War. In order to convince Taiwanese people that they are people of the province Taiwan, the "conquistadores" have been trying to "educate" Taiwanese that there is only a slight difference between people from different provinces. However, we know that it is not true in Taiwan. There is a big difference in the collective memories of history between Taiwanese and the ones who came to Taiwan during that period. The policies during the KMT rule from 1946 to 2000 in Taiwan favored the latter and discriminated the former. That was the reason of the so-called 一些省籍之间隔阂跟矛盾. This is caused subconsciously by the "conquistadores" because they believe that they are culturally superior to the ones who had been ruled by Japanese occupants, somehow to be compared with the attitude of Spanish occupants in Latin America --- they just believe that they are superior to Aztecas, Mayas or Incas.

For a proper translation of 省籍, we need to go behind the scene and interpret the intention of the speaker/author. That is why I propose this one.
