German term

Wahrheit ist erkennbar

German to English Social Sciences Philosophy
Liebe KollegInnen,

Any more context? What kind of readership is involved etc.?

we/man can be aware of the truth

God is the truth. Man is/may be aware of the truth but will never attain it.

(your text speaks of monotheism; this would be the Catholic perspective)

truth can be perceived

or even: truth can be ascertained/attained, although this might be too strong - because truth is already out there.

I chose "perceive" for its active meaning of "clearly see"

= seeing, understanding how a particular system truly works" - by looking at all components and interelationships of that system. I am not talking about the absolute truth here.

truth is a cognitive concept/notion/good/value

cf:
http://www.mkgandhi.org/articles/philgandhi.htm
This conception which set in sometime in the 17th century itself owes much to a more abstract element in our thinking, which is that truth is a cognitive notion, not a moral one. Only if truth is so conceived can science become the paradigmatic pursuit of our culture, without it the scientific outlook lacks its deepest theoretical source.
