English term

flesh / as if by sand

English to Spanish Art/Literary Linguistics traducci{on
A psychoanalyst -dead not many years- showed to certain of his friends and patients photographs of ancient statues in perspectives that stressed the action of time: missing limbs, worn surfaces, features eaten by long erosion. His subjects-so he reports- were invariably uneasy, both attracted and repelled at the sight of these beautiful and ruined objects. Clearly, they felt themselves guilty, having in their hearts willed always death and torture and a slow grinding away of the human form.
Now hard stone offered them mutilations in a dream of unchanging timeless flesh. Here an arm with perfect biceps, broken above the elbow. There a face, ideal, erased as if by sand. Nose, ear, nipple are particularly vulnerable.

Millan
Peer comment(s):

(indicating agent, cause) blonde hair bleached by the sun

I prefer the one above, though).
