Arabic term

حاجة تزيدوها

Non-PRO Arabic Art/Literary Poetry & Literature أغنية على دلعونة
نحنا تعاهدنا والشاهد الله
ومهما تخاطبنا بينصفنا الله
حاجة تزيدوها والكبرة لله
يمكن لو عدتوا ما بتلاقونا
I am more interested in teh explanation of the term than the translation, thanks in advance. And please, no guess work.

Discussion

It's Ok. Only that you posted your comment as a note to asker up here, as opposed to a note to Fuad down there. So, I thought you were asking me. All the best to you.
zax Aug 13, 2006:
The comment was to Fuad not to you Mohamed. I expected an answer in Arabic, since the title was Arabic to Arabic.
I would have asked for tech explanation in Arabic or English. All the best.
Mohamed Ghazal (asker) Aug 12, 2006:
Why not, Zax? In my question I did state that I was more after the explanation than the translation, as I prefer to put my own wording. Whether the explanation was in Arabic or in English is irrelevant in my opinion as long as I understand the term.
What other language pairs would you have posted that question under?
zax Aug 12, 2006:
Good answer; but not Aracic to Arabic as the title says!!!.

Arabic term (edited): حاجة
Selected

rhetorical "why"

In the Lebanese dialect, the word حاجة is used as in interrogative, in the sense of "why," used rhetorically. So حاجة followed by a verb means "why are you doing this," in the sense of "stop doing this." It is an abbreviation of "there is no NEED," meaning "enough of this" or "quit it."

"used as an interrogative," not "used as in interrogative."
