Hi Richard,
"Fughe" are the spaces between tiles, and "fugati" means that the tiles are spaced, as opposed to side by side, and hte spaces are then filled with different types of fillers.

That's a typo- THE spaces...

agree Gian : fugati = con fuga ovvero con distanza fra mattonelle che poi viene riempita con apposite malte

agree Russell Jones : Joints (unless butt) are nearly always grouted but occasionally they are not and "fugati" doesn't say they are. Spacers are used to form the joints.

(wider) grout joints

The fuga is indeed the space between the tiles or "joint". I found this glossary that may help.
It talks about standard "grout joints":
Nominal dimension
The stated size of a tile, which usually includes a standard grout joint. The actual dimension is somewhat smaller.

Also "wider grout joints":
More lippage can be tolerated when wider grout joints are used or the tile doesn't have a square edge, but lippage should not exceed 1 mm per 3 mm joint width.
