Short stature and ovarian dysfunction are a feature of Turner’s Syndrome.
Background
A double-blind, placebo controlled study was necessary to be conducted in order to clarify whether the treatment for short stature related to Turner’s syndrome increases adult height. Additionally, whether estrogen replacement therapy in childhood combined with growth hormones has had a new benefit has not been revealed. We targeted girls with growth hormones and early ultra-low-dose estrogen and investigated the effect of combining the two and administering them separately for adult height.
Methods
For the double-blind, placebo-controlled study, there were 149 female pediatric patients between 5-12.5 years randomly assigned to four groups: the double-blind placebo-group (placebo injections pediatric orally administered placebos, 39 patients), the estrogen-only group (placebo injections pediatric low-dose oral estrogen, 40 patients), the growth hormone-only group ( growth hormone injection pediatric orally administered placebos, 35 patients), growth hormones estrogen group (grown hormone injections childhood low-dose oral estrogen, 35 patients) The growth hormone dose was 0.1 mg/kg of body weight 3 times a week. The ethinyl estradiol’s (as well as the placebo’s) dose was adjusted according to their chronological age and the status of their puberty. The first screening after reaching 12 years old, all of the patients began to gradually receive ethinyl estradiol. Growth hormone injections were terminated upon reaching adult height.
Results
The average test period was 7.2±2.5 years, the average age upon reaching adult height was 17±1.0 years and their average standard deviation score for the placebo group was －2.89±0.15, the estrogen-only group was －3.07±0.13, the growth hormone-only group was －2.40±0.12, the growth hormone estrogen group was 2.07±0.12 （P＜0.001）．Because the results for the growth hormone administered group at adult height (excluding the placebo) had a standard deviation score of 0.78±0.13 for their increase (5.0 cm) (P

This year, Japan’s space development will take on the new challenge of the planned launching of the successor to the asteroid probe “Hayabusa” and the first Japanese captain of the International Space Station Kouichi Wakada.

The probe, different from the “Hayabusa” which collected water and organic matter from an asteroid, is planned to collect rocks and sand and return it to Earth around the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. In addition, observation satellites are planned to be launched 6 times this year using the H2A and H2B rockets to observe the conditions on the ground during rain and disasters. There is also a plan to launch a supply ship by the name of “Kounotori” to the International Space Station.
Also, development will begin on the next generation rocket H3 and is planned to be launched 6 years later in 2020.
On the other hand, Kouichi Wakada, who is a long-term resident of the ISS will be the first Japanese captain of the station starting in March and lasting for around 2 months.
The captain will perform scheduling, monitoring the workload and the health of the other astronauts, as well as having a big responsibility during emergencies. Mr. Wakada will have a heavy responsibility as a commander.

WASHINGTON (Tatsuo Nakajima) – The Netherlands based non-profit group “Mars One Foundation” aiming for a 2025 mission to Mars announced on December 30th that out of the approximately 200,000 applicants for the mission only 1,058 candidates made it through the first round.
Of these 5 Japanese men and women were included.
After this the selectees will shrink to 24 people on the basis of training and medical check-ups. In 2025 the first four selectees will begin to live on Mars and every 2 years after that a further 4 people are planned to join the settlement. The immigrants will never return to Earth. It is thought that funding venture will rely on money collected from broadcasting the training and real-time living conditions of the participants.
The foundation began accepting applications between April and August of 2013. There were questions surrounding the technology and safety of the mission but even then 220,586 people applied. The applicants were judged based on a 1 minute video message and the application and 1,085 were selected from 107 countries and areas.

Hello to all!
My name is Lindsay and I have lived in Japan for 10 years!
I am recent graduate from the University of Texas at San Antonio where I graduated with a BA in Modern Language Studies with a concentration in Japanese.
I was a Dean's List Recipient (GPA 3.8) in Spring 2011 semester as well as a Who's Who in America's Colleges & Universities and Who's Who at UTSA recipient in the same semester.
I took and passed level 2 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test and I intend to take level 1 soon.
I took advanced-level Japanese classes including an independent study class on translation (Special Projects) where I translated medical and technical texts culminating in a 15 English page translation project of a book on astronomy.
I also attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst as a domestic exchange student with the National Student Exchange Program where I took translation classes (Readings in Modern Japanese 1 & 2).
During what would have been my junior year in high school I attended Tokyo Gakkan Niigata High School as a Rotary International Youth Exchange Student. Since my time as an exchange student did not count towards graduation I completed my graduation requirements the following year to graduate on time (technically a year early based on time actually spent in school as my junior year was completed in the fall and the my senior year in the spring).
I have taken and passed the Kanji Kentei Level 7 with is 640 characters and approximately a 4th grade reading level in kanji only.
