Claimant

Whereas plaintiff is perfectly correct, "claimant" at times may be a more accurate rendering of the Spanish term "actor" depending on the type of judicial process and/or hearing in question.
A claimant is the "actor" when there is some kind of claim being made; a "plaintiff" is the "actor" in a "denuncia" or "demanda".
