Spanish term

adecuación

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering IT (Information Technology)
This is one of those tricky words....

It's from a report by an IT company about the stages of a project to migrate a company to a service-oriented architecture (SOA):

"Stages
1. Estudio situación actual
• Definición de la adecuación de la arquitectura TI
• Definición de la adecuación a SOA de la Infraestructura"

Many thanks

Hi, well you could switch to "preparation" as and when needed...
Note from asker:
Hi Edward - Thanks for that - I had already considered that, and sometimes "adaption" does work but not here, I don't think. Taking the second example, "Definition of the adaption of the Infrastructure to the SOA" doesn't work (not for me, at least)
Hmmm, OK, thanks - I will think about "preparing"... for me, adecuación" is about "making adequate", "aligning with", but I find it's easier to say that than use it credibly in a sentence! LOL

agree Paula Hermida B : I think adaptation does fit here. An alternative: "Definition of Infrastructure adaptation to SOA", sound nicer...

Just another possibility, there is not much CONTEXT to go by for choosing the best word.

suitability

I'm offering this as a suggestion since it would seem to fit into the context you've given. It's not taken from the dictionary which is why I'm hesitant in offering it, but the Spanish word is obviously closely linked to adecuado.
I tried a quick google search and there are plenty of examples there where others have used it as a translation.

Hello, I just wanted to thank you for your answer, which was also helpful. Unfortunately, I can't split the points... one of the limitations of Kudoz (though probably just as well, as it would probably get quite complicated!).
Peer comment(s):

agree SilviaInt : It is the most precise translation in that context,
