¿Los nombres de partidos políticos se traducen?

Spanish to English Science Government / Politics Partidos políticos
Me encuentro traduciendo hojas de vida de candidatos que postulan a la presidencia, pero ¿realmente se traducen al inglés el nombre de sus partidos políticos?. Muchos de ellos los encuentro con su equivalencia en inglés pero me genera duda si verdaderamente se traducen o no. Gracias por responder

Shilpa Baliga Mar 7, 2021:
What I usually do when translating an article is to give a translation in brackets the first time the name of a political party appears, as well as the acronym. Unless it is going to get too confusing for the reader (parties with similar acronyms, for example), continuing with the acronyms is usually fine.

Agree with Phil Some countries have a dizzying array of political parties. In some cases, having a translation of the name may be a real help to the reader trying to figure out who the players are and what's going on. Sometimes I have left the name of the party in the original language throughout the body of the article, but provided the translated name in a footnote or endnote where it first appears in the article.

I don't think there are any hard-and-fast rules, and you just have to use your own judgment.

It depends on your readership, what the document is for, and also the original language. Most people would be able to work out what Alternative für Deutschland or Parti Socialiste means, whereas Polska Partia Przyjaciół Piwa would need a translation: Polish Beer Lovers' Party.

Io creo que no se traducen.

Algunos de los nombres pueden incluso no hacer sentido en la traducion.

Pondría “[sigla] Party”

Por ejemplo, en caso de Partido Acción Nacional (PAN) en Mexico: PAN Party. También podría poner “PAN Presidential Candidate”, según el formato del texto o relación que estás traduciendo.

Political parties and unions
Translate the names of political parties and unions, except when they are commonly known by their original-language name (e.g. Sinn Féin) or when a bare translation might cause confusion (e.g. Worker Committees for Comissions Obreres). Where helpful, follow names left in the source language with a brief literal or descriptive translation in brackets and, where applicable, the source-language acronym to be used thereafter. Example:

Convergència i Unió (Convergence and Union, CiU)

Partidos políticos y organizaciones sindicales

Hay nombres que solo se utilizan en la forma original:

Herri Batasuna, Eusko Alkartasuna
Unió de Pagesos, Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya
el Sinn Féin
Por regla general deben traducirse los nombres de formaciones políticas y sindicales:

Bloque Nacionalista Gallego, Partido Nacionalista Vasco

a) Cuando se citen leyes, partidos políticos, cargos o entidades de países de habla española, habrá que dar su título exacto, haciendo las averiguaciones necesarias.
b) En los demás casos, solo se dará su traducción al español.
