When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.
How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:
An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)
A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Oops - I see Helena already mentioned "processing". However, it's still my first option.

@Helena. Sorry, I wasn't trying to poach your answer. I simply think that "processing" is the more formal expression and appropriate for a contract.

I also think it's a PRO query, if only because there are so many options....

: This is what I use too, and I don't think "handling" is right, because "tratamiento" implies doing something to/with the data.

: Like you said, Helena has aleady suggested this.

True, but I don't think that disqualifies my suggestion, which IMHO is more suitable for the formal context of a contract.

: Should I say, "So which part of "'Management', 'processing' and 'use' are also quite common terms." don't you understand"? as per your unwarranted response to me earlier?

Handling (of data)
The Data Protection Act 1998 regulates the handling of "personal data". For day-to-day purposes, "personal data" is information about living, identifiable individuals; see the link below for a more precise definition.
http://www.ed.ac.uk/records-management/data-protection/guida...
The Information Commissioner’s Office also provides guidance to public bodies and individuals on the handling of personal data, and when such data can be shared lawfully between professionals.

: Hi Helena. "Handling", as used in the examples, is typical of the UK plain English, reader-friendly kind of style. It's not something the Spanish do (unfortunately) and less so in an actual contract, I'd say.

Yes, I know all that, but I'm not too keen on writing 'access' and 'process' together. I prefer access and handling/management/use. Thank you for your opinion, Andy :-)

: As Andy says, this is a more informal expression, but it is widely used.

Yes, my fault for not spending enough time on my answer. I should have compared process, handle, manage and use then found examples of each one before deciding which word was most suitable. I use three of the four I've suggested (I don't like use).

: processing. Although I don't see how Andy's point is relevant, this is SP to EN, not the other way around, so Spanish formality is not important and "UK plain English, reader-friendly style" is spot on! ?:0
