Spanish term

brocal

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Architecture moorish architecture
This is part of the description of a Moorish house (Nasrid period) in which they are trying to locate the siting of the staircase:

From searching the net, a 'brocal' appears to be the parapet or stone surround of a well. In this case, if the water tank is in the south and the brocal is in the south-eastern corner, it would not, here, appear to be the stone surround. Any ideas....?
many thanks

I think because the aljibe is an underground water tank, it could extend along the southern side of the compound, and only the access to it (the actual well head or parapet) would be visible in the SE corner. What do you think?

The fact that it says 'la localización de SU brocal' seems pretty conclusive to me.

gracias Montse.
agree Charles Davis : I'm sure you're right; it was a typical arrangement (I was shown an aljibe like this in Toledo a few years ago).
