Please help!

Can anyone provide an official Latin name and a lay English name for the so-called "chainiy grib" popular in Russia, China and Japan - I'm translating a Russian book on folk medicine.

"Tea fungus"

In Latin, it's Medusomyces Gisevii. It also has scores of other names - the Russians also refer to it as Japanese fungus, tea kvass; in America it can be purchased under the name Kombucha.
