'Demi-monde' jest dobre, choc trzeba z tym ostroznie, jako ze (wedlug: Shorter Oxford) pierwsze znaczenie tego wyrazu brzmi: "the class of women of doubtful reputation and social standing; the class of kept women or loosely of prostitutes;" Dopiero za tym idzie: "any social group regarded as behaving with doubtful propriety or legality;"
