Japanese term

石鹼素地

Japanese to English Science Science (general) soap making
Put on a label for a special type of herb soap. I am not familar with how soap is made, but my guess is that this kanji is some type of "soap base" which in most cases would be animal fat. Does anyone know for sure?

More context Thanks for the help David. Yes, other ingredients listed are: Glycerin, water, Damascean Rose Water, Bilberry Fruit Extract, Dextrin, Alcohol, etc. It's a soap marketed for health nuts and they advertise it being all natural and if you use it then you'll look like a super star (no joke). I'm thinking that instead of taking my translation fee, I'd rather just have some of this elegant soap ^^

Proposed translations

soap base material / neat soap

If it's on a list of soap ingredients I would go with "soap base/base material/neat soap'". Could you provide more context? Wha tother ingredients are listed?

surface acting agent/ soap material/ soap material for saponification

"石鹸素地" is made of fat acid and sodium hydroxide. And putting "石鹸素地" and water together lead to make soap, "石鹸".
The process for making soap is called "saponification"
In japan, "石鹸素地" is 界面活性剤(surface acting agent) medically.
