皆さん牛肉が大好きだと思いますが、スーパーの生肉売り場で牛肉を見ると、輸入牛肉以外の牛肉 だと「和牛」とか「国産牛」があります。さてこの両者の違い、何でしょう?

「和牛」は日本の在来種をもとに、交配を繰り返して改良されたもの。日本では現在、 「黒毛和種」、「褐色和種」、「日本短各種」、「無角和種」と4種類しかありません。
一方「国産牛」は一定期間(輸入されてから3ヵ月間)以上日本国内で飼育されていれば国産牛と 称される。つまり生きたまま輸入すればアメリカ産だろうがオーストラリア産だろうが日本で3ヶ月 以上飼育されていれば「国産牛」となります。
